Bio

Arkady Roytman was born in a little town called Beltsy, in the former Soviet republic of Moldova. As a kid he would retell Brothers Grimm and Hans Christian Andersen folktales verbatim to anyone who would listen. He immigrated to the United States as a religious refugee with his family at the age of 9. During the process of immigration he spent a few months in Austria and Italy where he learned about his Jewish roots, and further fueled his imagination by the stories from the Old Testament. In the United States, Saturday morning cartoons and comic-books influenced his early artistic exploits. While attending the Savannah College of Art and Design for Sequential Art he expanded into the field of Illustration and later, Fine Art.

Arkady’s clients include Fantasy Flight Games, White Wolf, AEG, Mongoose Publishing, Games Workshop, Art Force Studios, McGraw-Hill, Dover Publications and Skyhorse Publishing and his work has been featured in Spectrum; The Best in Contemporary Fantastic Art. His Fine Art nudes have been displayed at Nude Nite events in Orlando and Tampa, Florida and at the Peoria Art Guild in Peoria, Illinois. Best of Arkady Roytman’s Nude of the Day: Year One, a collection of his figure paintings, was published by Xupuy Ediciones in 2013.

He currently resides in Bloomington, Indiana with his wife and young daughter.

Other things I'm proud of:

Since 2018, I've been creating illustrated maps for Travel Graphics International. Check out some of the work the company does.

I've also, together with my wife, created some Ketubahs (Jewish marriage contracts) for friends and family. Check out some samples here, here and here. If you would like to commission us to create a custom Ketubah for your upcoming wedding, please email us.

I'm also very proud of my wife, Elly Cohen, who recently completed her Ph.D. and started a PostDoc position at IU Bloomington, and our daughter, Ava, who is just an awesome little human.
